Art: me and my identity

Me:

What I do all day: listen to music. What I do when I wake up: turn on my wake up music. What I do while I’m brushing my teeth: try to sing to the music I’m listening to. What I do while I’m waiting for my ride to school: listen to the music that makes me semi ready to go through another day of school. What I do while I’m in school: try to secretly listen to music during class: what I do when I’m allowed to be listening to music during class: JAM to the music that’s distracting. What I do when during free period when I’m suppose to be getting my homework done: listen to music, while looking up more music to listen to on the Internet. What I’m doing while I’m waiting for my mom to pick me up to go home: listening to music and not paying attention to the drama that’s going on around me. What I’m doing while I’m doing my homework: listen to music and writing down random answers for my homework. What I do when I’ve “finished” my homework: relax and listen to music. Music is what I do in life; I listen to music all day long. So, naturally when thinking about me and a self-portrait of me and who I am, music is what comes to mind. I started to think about what music means to me and what I like about music. What’s so good about it? Why do I listen to it constantly? All the different types of music go with all the different emotions you can feel and all the moods a person can be in. That why I listen to all sorts of music. I list to music because it helps me find my self and I relax when I listen to my music. I normally listen to music in my room, so I laid my room out as my back ground for my portrait. And picked one of my favorite songs to use the lyrics from to use as an element in my back ground and I decided on two views of me. The me sitting there listen to music and trying to do homework. And the other me reflected on the other side of my wall in my room that relaxed and lost inside the music. Because of my color study based on this painting, I chose to add a colorful rug. I also added lyrics on top of the window to give it a life outside of my room is based on music too.. to sunlight coming through the window is based on music too. I have me sitting Indian style with my headphones on to really show how comfortable I am this way listening to music in my room being my self. I have the idea of creating dimension by having different layers of the artwork. I have me in my room sitting Indian style on top of the background of my room and the reflection on me on the wall. When words fail, music speaks. Plus not to mention when friends and I hang out at Starbucks and drink coffee.. maybe ill draw a Starbucks cup sitting on my desk in my room…
